Visit from a Former Apprentice

One year after the 125th anniversary, a former “apprentice” of KUNDO xT, precision mechanic apprenticeship 1958-1961, Eduard Pudel, visited us. He has been living in Berlin for a long time, and during a visit to St Georgen, he wished to see KUNDO xT again, which we were happy to accommodate. We even saw tools/machine parts from the 1950s along the way, the view from today’s server room used to be his view from the training workshop. His mother assembled annual clocks where Mrs. Hauer’s art is created today. He thanked us warmly and was pleased that another generation of Obergfell is maintaining the company, and was quite amazed at the changes. What was also unknown to us until now: In the early 60s, almost a third of the façade of the round building once fell onto the street. Apparently, no one was harmed, but the machines were “on the balcony”. New stories from the old times, thank you Mr. Pudel for your visit.

We’re opening the hallowed halls: Girls “Day Boys” Day Edition!

On April 03, 2025, our company transforms into a discovery zone for young talents. We show that KUNDO xT has more to offer than dry theory. Perhaps we’ll discover today the skilled workers of tomorrow.

Anniversary Donations

Last year for our 125th anniversary, we not only celebrated but also donated. Now we’ve inquired about what became of the donations.

Theater in the German House

The Theater in the German House was able to realize a great program in 2025 and enrich St Georgen with culture.

Global Forest

The children’s workshop “KIDSKUNST #4” was supported. We had two artists as guests who took the children on “excursions into the universe of radio and sound waves”. Specifically, they spent a week acoustically exploring St.Georgen (including the Phono Museum, Town Hall, forest meadow), built their own instruments, and as a special highlight, the children put together a good hour-long radio show every day. At https://global-forest.com/programm/kinderworkshop-reihe-kids-und-kunst-vier there’s an overview of the program and at the end of the page also a photo documentation. We also plan to publish the radio shows as an archive on our website.

The WIRKstatt

The WIRKstatt supported refugee work in St. Georgen with a donation for the anniversary (language café and Taste the World)

The Association “Living Differently”

The association “Living Differently” supports the “other store” with their employees from integration and their coexistence.

Returns

From now on, please include the completed return form with returns. This can be found here under Downloads.

Cat on the Loose: an Animal Adventure at KUNDO xT

This morning we had a very special visitor at KUNDO xT: A curious tomcat decided to explore our office!

Our team warmly welcomed the little adventurer and first provided him with everything a cat’s heart desires. But that’s not all – our HR department took care of the furry guest and took him to the vet to clarify his identity.

Thanks to the quick help, the cat was soon able to return to his home. A big thank you to everyone involved for this animal happy ending!

KUNDO xT at Chillventa 2024 in Nuremberg

Chillventa? Are they chilling all day? Cool down, because “Chill” means cool, Chillventa is the leading international trade fair for refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and heat pump industries – rather a hotspot for our customers. The who’s who of refrigeration and air conditioning experts also dropped by KUNDO in Hall 5 and not only helped themselves to the Black Forest tapas buffet and the matching cooled regional beer, but were also enthusiastic about operating the KUNDO GASCONTROL eco system. The smart sensor impressed not only with its easy installation, for which one hand is enough, but also the configuration via the KUNDO Connect App makes future installation life easier. Compared to 2022, the audience was slightly lower, but the trade fair team was pleased with the high-quality visits to the stand of the jubilarian, who rightly distinguished himself as a gas specialist in the safety sector.

125 Years of KUNDO – it Was a Celebration for Us

1899 – 2024, 125 years of company history – that sounds like stability and continuity. For us, this applied to the first 100 years as a clock company, followed by a time of change – initially still a clock company, but also a special machine builder, supplier, manufacturer of devices for consumption data collection and much more. A transformation process in which even insiders have difficulty keeping track. Today, an expert for CO2 control, vision for tomorrow as the specialist for gas measurement, safety monitoring, control and regulation – but we wanted to pause briefly, an anniversary deserves to be celebrated.

On June 14, we reminisced in the Old Freight Hall, celebrated joyfully, danced to “Eva’s Apple” (https://evasapfelmusik.de/), watched football, and simply enjoyed seeing many people again who have accompanied and supported KUNDO’s journey in recent years of company history.

Many thanks to all who made the day what it is for us by their presence, an unforgettable and beautiful event!

We were also surprised by the response on the open day! St. Georgen showed great interest in KUNDO, many former employees wanted to see the current state of their former workplaces, families used the event for a tour through the company that once did “something with clocks”, to get to know today’s product portfolio, and to have fun on the bouncy castle with music and culinary offerings benefiting the Wunderbunt daycare center.

125 years of KUNDO are also 125 years of St. Georgen – we feel connected to our location and the people here. Social engagement is in the genes of the owners, Johann Obergfell was co-founder of the SPD local association – in his spirit and in the spirit of today’s shareholders, KUNDO donated a total sum of 25,000 € to the following non-profit associations:

Living Differently Together (https://gemeinsam-anders-leben.de/)
